Farther to the east, Murlo (Bus #110 and #111 to Vescovado) is deep in some haunting forests around the Crevole River. An easy four-mile trail from here leads to the old mining village Miniere di Murlo (abandoned after WWII) from where another eight-mile trail departs along the ancient train line used by the miners. You can also walk to the area’s important Etruscan remains at Vescovado, a trail best finished off with a visit to the town’s archeological museum.
